Join educators Donalyn Miller and Jennifer LaGarde for the fourth and final session of their interactive workshops focusing on how to create and sustain reading joy during these unusual times.
An entire school community that reads and joyfully models reading, encourages even the most vulnerable reader to connect to books that resonate with them (Francois, 2013). When everyone in a community values reading, children read more (Krashen, 2004). During the pandemic, students may feel less connected to the reading communities that previously sustained them. In this session, explore instructional and programming ideas, resources, and book recommendations that support joyful reading communities. Session features surprise guest, Debbie Ridpath Ohi. Debbie Ridpath Ohi is the author-illustrator of Where Are My Books? and Sam & Eva (Simon & Schuster). Her illustrations also appear in books by Judy Blume, Michael Ian Black, Aaron Reynolds, Linda Sue Park, among others.
