Join educators Donalyn Miller and Jennifer LaGarde for this first in a series of fun, interactive workshops focusing on how to create and sustain reading joy during these unusual times.
First up: Time! While it may feel like everything has changed, some things haven’t: whether you are teaching remotely or socially-distancing in a classroom, kids still benefit from joyful, independent reading time and read-alouds. This session includes strategies, resources, and book recommendations for feeding kids’ reading momentum and interest, while maximizing reading time–yours and theirs.
Session features a surprise visit from Mike Curato, author-illustrator of the wildly popular Little Elliot picture books. Mike’s debut title in the series, Little Elliot, Big City has won numerous awards and has been translated into over ten languages. Mike is the illustrator of Worm Loves Worm by J.J. Austrian, All the Way to Havana by Young People’s Poet Laureate Margarita Engle, and What if…by Samantha Berger. He has also written and illustrated his debut graphic novel, Flamer, and illustrated Trudy Ludwig’s new picture book, The Power of One, both available now!
Later sessions include conversations about Access, Choice, and Sustaining Reading Communities.
How long are each of the workshops/webiners with Donalyn Miller and Jennifer LaGarde and past ones from June/July. I would like to register for some for a pro d but would like to know the length.
Thanks
Donalyn Miller and Jennifer LaGarde’s first “Supporting Joyful Reading” workshop was approximately 90 minutes. Cornelius Minor and Kass Minor’s workshop was approximately 75 minutes. The workshop led by David Bowles and Julia Torres is about 120 minutes. And all of the In Conversations run about 60 minutes.
Are these sessions to be recorded? I am in a different time zone.
They are! All the sessions are recorded. When you register, you have access to the replay.
